1. Organizational Context

Transborder Logistics Limited (TBL) delivers logistics, supply-chain and programme implementation services and builds a broader operational portfolio. As the organization expands its services, including logistics, courier and related supply-chain activities, TBL requires reliable and professional drivers who can provide safe, efficient and responsive transportation support across different operating environments.

The Project Driver will initially support the Strengthening Integrated Commodity Distribution Systems in Four Nigerian States (SICDS-4) investment, providing safe and dependable transportation for project personnel and authorized movements within the assigned state —Lagos, Nasarawa, Katsina or Niger. As TBL’s portfolio develops, the role will also support other TBL programmes, logistics and courier operations, client assignments or other approved transport requirements where the driver’s capabilities are relevant.

The role requires safe driving, vehicle care, reliability and professional conduct. The successful candidate must be able to operate responsibly in different environments, maintain accurate vehicle and trip records, respond appropriately to changing operational requirements and provide dependable mobility support to TBL’s teams and operations.

2. Role Purpose

The Project Driver will provide safe, reliable and professional transportation support for project personnel, commodities and other authorised project movements within the assigned state. The role is responsible for operating assigned vehicles in accordance with approved schedules, safety procedures and fleet controls, supporting the movement and delivery of commodities to designated locations, maintaining vehicle readiness, and ensuring timely and well-documented field movements.

The role will work closely with the Fleet Manager and Logistics Support Officer to coordinate vehicle deployment, commodity movements and field activities. The Driver will also support proof-of-delivery documentation, collection of relevant field information and reporting of delivery or operational issues encountered during assigned movements, while maintaining accurate vehicle and trip records and complying with TBL’s approved procedures.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Safe Transportation of Personnel and Commodities

• Safely transport project personnel, commodities and other authorised consignments to designated locations in accordance with approved schedules and routes.
• Support timely movement of commodities from warehouses or designated distribution points to assigned facilities and other approved destinations.
• Ensure commodities and other consignments are handled securely and appropriately during transit.
• Observe all applicable road-traffic, safety, security and transport requirements.

B. Vehicle Operation and Daily Readiness

• Operate assigned vehicles responsibly and conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip checks.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, basic readiness and proper care.
• Promptly report mechanical faults, warning indicators or other issues affecting safe operation.
• Ensure required vehicle documentation is available and up to date.

C. Field Movement and Schedule Support

• Support approved commodity distribution cycles, field visits, facility engagements, supervision activities, meetings and other authorised movements.
• Follow approved routes and schedules and communicate delays, access constraints or changes in road conditions promptly.
• Coordinate with the Logistics Support Officer on delivery locations, movement schedules and commodity distribution requirements.
• Support loading, offloading and handover of commodities where required and within approved procedures.

D. Vehicle Records and Fuel Accountability

• Obtain, complete and submit proof-of-delivery documentation and other required delivery records for assigned commodity movements.
• Support collection of relevant field information during delivery and other authorised field movements.
• Report delivery discrepancies, incomplete deliveries, damages, losses or other exceptions promptly to the appropriate TBL officer.
• Maintain accurate trip, mileage, fuel and movement records.

E. Safety, Security and Incident Reporting

• Comply with TBL’s vehicle, safety and security procedures, including requirements for safe driving, passenger safety and appropriate rest periods.
• Immediately report accidents, security incidents, vehicle damage, commodity-related incidents or other material concerns.
• Exercise sound judgement when operating in changing or potentially unsafe conditions.

F. Vehicle Care and Maintenance Support

• Support scheduled service and preventive maintenance by making the vehicle available when required.
• Report maintenance needs promptly and support basic vehicle checks.
• Do not undertake unauthorized repairs, modifications or use of the vehicle.

G. Coordination with Fleet and Logistics Functions

• Work under the direction of the Fleet Manager and coordinate with the Logistics Support Officer where vehicle deployment is required for approved activities.
• Follow authorized vehicle assignments, routes and schedules and obtain approval before making material changes.
• Provide timely information that helps fleet and logistics teams manage operational movements effectively.

H. Wider TBL Transport Support

• Provide transport support for other TBL programmes, logistics or courier operations, client assignments and approved business activities where required.
• Support mobilization for new assignments by applying sound route awareness, vehicle-use discipline and professional service standards.
• Contribute practical observations on routes, access, travel conditions and transport-related operational improvements.

4. Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Minimum of secondary school education (SSCE/WAEC/NECO or equivalent); higher educational qualifications are an added advantage.
• Valid Nigerian Driver’s License appropriate for the assigned vehicle category.
• Minimum of three years of professional driving experience, preferably with a structured organization, development programme, corporate organization or similar setting.
• Demonstrated experience driving safely in urban, rural and inter-state environments, with good knowledge of road-safety requirements.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle checks, routine vehicle care and reporting of mechanical faults.
• Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, discretion, professional conduct and ability to maintain basic vehicle, trip and fuel records.

Desirable

• Previous experience supporting field teams, development programmes, public health projects, logistics or similar operations.
• Good knowledge of the roads and operating environment in the state for which the candidate is applying.
